Barchanoid
ridge south of Kufra - Barchanoid ridge dunes are created by similar
process to creation of solitary barchan dunes when concentration of barchans
and sand abundance allow them to join into a long continuos ridge. Barchan
crescent shapes are still well recognizable. Barchanoid ridges are always
perpendicular to prevailing wind direction - Northern winds in Libyan
Sahara. This particular ridge is located half way between Kufra oasis
and mountains of Jebel Arkenu. |
